July 15 It was a wonderful turnout last night. So great to meet all of the filmmakers. Good luck on your projects and we'll see be seeing you in 28 days! A final shout out to Barking Spider Productions, who managed to crawl their way in at the last moment. :-) July 14
Welcome to Medium Rare Films, our 20th team! Can't wait to meet the new teams and see some familiar faces, too. Still a few more spots open - we will be accepting registrations online until 5:30 p.m. and also at the door, space permitting!
July 13
Big kickoff is Wednesday night, 7 p.m. at the Waterfront Hotel 2nd floor backroom in Fells Point! Team leaders or a representative from their team must attend to sign paperwork, get the lowdown on the rules and pick up the mysterious prop. Team members are welcome to attend, have a drink or two, and meet other filmmakers!
July 12
Welcome last year's defending 2nd place team Mobtelevision and new team Fifth Underground! Due to the number of teams, we will be dividing into two screening groups of 7 and 9:15. This means we can accept up to 5 more teams for any last minute registrants. (Walk-ups are allowed if we have enough room).

Co-founder Dean attended a screening for his 48 hour film "Time in a Trashcan" and was impressed with all the films in screening group A. He is looking forward to having an extra 27 days to finish his next project!

Our registration form is up and running. Register before all slots are taken and take advantage of a very inexpensive early bird team rate of only $25! Compared to the $135 early bird registration fee for the 48 hour project, it's a steal. Plus, we give you double the free tickets (4) for the screening!

We attended a DVD pre-release party and screening in Hampden of Sponsor Michelle Farrell's award winning documentary, Unravelling Michelle. Great job, Michelle - two thumbs way up! We're also ready to adopt your mom!

It's official - kick off for 29 Days Later is Wednesday, July 14 at 7 p.m. and drop off is Thursday, August 12, 7 p.m. at Waterfront Hotel in Fells Point! June 5 Michelle Farrell of Absolute Independent Pictures and Craig Herron of Herron Designs have generously agreed to match their involvement from last year! Michelle has once again offered a weekend of rentals (up to $1,000 in value - see Details page) to the winner and a 29% discount to participants on her equipment rentals during the competition.
Craig will be providing $200 worth of effects services to the 2nd place winner as well as offering a 29% discount on any effects works needed by a team during the competition. Many thanks for your continued support and generosity, Michelle and Craig!

Congratulations to 1st Place Winner Jeanie Clark for "The Red-Headed Menace;" 2nd Place Winner Jon Schaumburg of MobTV for "Tiny" and 3rd place Winner Virginia Ryker for "Apnea." Also recognized were: Best Actress Elicia Moran from "Webcam;" Best Actor Wes Throneberry from "Tiny;" Best Cinematography "Apnea;" Best Use of Prop "MC's Lap Zapper" and Best Pet went to the cat from "Webcam." Kudos to all the filmmakers!

Last night was a fabulous evening and a complete sell-out at the 200 seat Creative Alliance! Thanks to all the filmmakers, our sponsors Michelle and Craig, the Creative Alliance and everyone who came out to make our first year a success. We already can't wait 'til next year!
